Sarah Allen, Executive Director of the Foundation
Sarah joins us with more than 15 years of fundraising experience representing an array of non-profit organizations throughout the Puget Sound area. Sarah’s passion for fundraising derives from a commitment to give back to her community, as she thoroughly enjoys connecting donors (corporations, foundations and individuals) to the causes and projects they care about.
Having started her fundraising career raising support for student scholarships and departmental support at the University of Washington, Sarah is thrilled to be back supporting local students at Bates Technical College – her husband’s alma mater. Sarah holds a Master’s Degree in communication and leadership from Gonzaga University and a Bachelor’s Degree in communication from the University of Washington.
Al Griswold, Executive Vice President of Instruction/Chief Academic Officer
With nearly 30 years of experience in community and technical college education in the state of Washington, Griswold most recently served as Associate Vice President of Workforce Education at Seattle Central College before coming to Bates in 2015.
Griswold has completed coursework toward his doctorate in higher education leadership from Northeastern University, which he expects to obtain soon. He holds a Master’s Degree in organizational management from University of Phoenix, a Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University, and an Associate Degree from College of the Desert in California.
DeAnne Hamilton, Executive Director and General Manager of KBTC
DeAnne Hamilton is Executive Director and General Manager of KBTC Public Television. Hamilton has more than 25 years working in public media, leading both public television and radio stations in California, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Washington.
She began her public television career at KQED in San Francisco, Calif. Her responsibilities included overseeing daily operations of the television station. Prior to joining Bates Technical College to lead KBTC in 2016, she led the public television and radio stations at Michigan State University, where she oversaw the conversion to digital transmission, and in Pittsburgh, Pa. where she served as the founding general manager for WESA 90.5 FM. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications from University of Washington.
Christina Nelson, Director of Human Resources
Christina Nelson holds an Associate Degree in business administration, a Bachelor of Science in human resources management and a Master’s Degree in business administration, with a focus in labor relations.
Nelson is a Certified Human Resources Professional with more than 15 years of experience. She holds various human resources and Title IX-related certifications. Nelson is a driven professional with demonstrated successes negotiating in unionized work environments with win-win compromises.
Nelson is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), The Northwest Human Resources Management Association (NHRMA) and is Volunteer Director for the Seattle SHRM Board.
Holly Woodmansee, Vice President of Administrative Services
Prior to her hire at Bates in 2014, Woodmansee served as executive director of budget, capital financing and physical plant at Shoreline Community College. With nearly 45 years of experience in higher education, Woodmansee holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Central Washington University and an Associate Degree from South Seattle Community College.
She holds a certification of completion of the Business Officers Leadership Academy through the Community College Business Officers (CCBO). Woodmansee has earned several awards, including the Governor’s Award for Energy Conservation and Outstanding Business Officer from the Community College Business Officers.
