Generally, Running Start students can register for career education and academic classes at the college 4-6 weeks prior to the start of a new quarter, once they meet eligibility criteria.
To be eligible, you must be enrolled in a local, public high school in the State of Washington, and be considered a junior or a senior. Students must be between the ages of 16-20, at the time of enrollment.
Students must meet Accuplacer score requirements per CTE delivery models or place at College level in English and math for academic registration. Please see Testing Center for Accuplacer testing dates. *High school students that have scored a level 4 on the ELA (Washington State English Language Assessment) can submit ELA results in place of Accuplacer for English placement.
Lastly, students must be approved for Running Start status by their districts and create a maximum credit plan with their high school counselor. Please note: The maximum number of credits a Running Start student can enroll in without paying tuition at the College is 15 credits; however, this is for students who are taking 0-1 class periods at their high school. The more classes you take at the high school, the less credits you can take at the college, tuition free. If a student elects to take more credits than allowed through Running Start, the student will need to pay full tuition for the additional credits.

If you are NOT seeking a public high school diploma, then you are allowed to enroll in a maximum 15 credits each quarter with tuition paid for through the Running Start program. Running Start fees will apply, as well as paying for fees beyond the initial 15 credits each quarter (if applicable.)
